Cloud-based AI background tools are highly capable and typically work by sending a text prompt to a remote API, which returns a generated image. That workflow requires an internet connection and sending your transcript to a third-party server.
Lappaa's AI background generation runs entirely on the Neural Engine inside your supported iPhone or iPad. The transcript is analyzed locally by an on-device model, which derives an image prompt from the mood and content of what you said. The image is then generated locally using Apple's frameworks and placed on your canvas. Your words and the image they inspire stay completely on your device.

How the integration works
AI background generation starts with the transcript that Lappaa generates from your voice or video recording. The on-device transcription converts your speech to text locally. A separate on-device model then reads that text and extracts the semantic context: the subject matter and the emotional register, determining a visual that complements your message.
Lappaa constructs an image generation prompt automatically. Apple's on-device frameworks produce the result, delivering the image directly to the canvas as your background. The entire sequence runs smoothly on supported hardware without manual configuration.

For devices without Apple Intelligence, or when you prefer a specific aesthetic, Lappaa provides three highly flexible background options that work natively on any device.
Solid colour
Pick any hex value. Clean, branded, fast. This format works well when the visualiser and caption typography are meant to be the primary focus of the visual.
Import a photo
Bring in any image from the Files app, Photos, or your clipboard. Pinch to zoom, rotate freely, and position it perfectly. A Gaussian blur slider allows you to soften the background behind your captions.
Import a video
Use an existing video file. Import from Photos or Files, and use the same canvas controls — pinch, rotate, and position — to frame it perfectly.
